OChK is expanding its proprietary OChK Platform to include the OpenStack tool for a more flexible and independent approach to cloud resource virtualization. Organizations that use the Platform can now choose the right hypervisor for their needs, building an agile and optimized cloud, and avoiding vendor lock-in.
With the virtualization tools available now on the OChK Platform, organizations can build their cloud services based on two software stacks—namely the well-known and popular VMware, which recently changed its licensing policy, and OpenStack. The latter is a recognized standard for public, private, and hybrid cloud platforms, sometimes referred to as “the most widely used cloud platform in the world.” For 14 years, it has been continuously developed by thousands of developers from renowned technology powerhouses (including HP, Red Hat, Intel, Oracle, and Dell) as well as open systems enthusiasts and supporters.
The ability to choose the right hypervisor within the OChK Platform translates into multiple benefits for organizations that wish to implement changes quickly, as well as those focused on security and regulatory compliance. For example, using a vendor-agnostic solution, which is the feature many are seeking today, enables users to migrate between virtualization solutions based on the nature of the project without being tied to a single vendor. An additional advantage of this approach is the possibility to closely monitor costs, which streamlines cloud budgeting.
“We have seen a growing interest in the OpenStack tool, especially since VMware changed its licensing policy following its merger with Broadcom. Many organizations have been challenged by the transition to subscription-based models and unfavorable pricing changes, leading more IT teams to look for ways to streamline costs while maintaining the existing efficiency, speed, and security. At OChK, we monitor the market and strive to improve our products to best meet the needs of organizations, which is why we decided to expand the features of the OChK Platform with a new virtualization solution,” – said Katarzyna Drabik, Head of Product Development at OChK.
The OChK Platform was established in 2019 and has always been developed to provide client-friendly solutions combined with security. The OChK Platform management mechanisms are based on ISO norms and standards (27001, 22301, 27017, 27018), and its regular audits confirm the high quality of its security measures. In order to make infrastructure management faster and easier, in March 2023, OChK launched a major update to the Platform, which automated asset management with code (Infrastructure as Code, IaC), streamlined administration, improved the tool’s UX, and made it easier to use. In 2024 OChK Platform was recognized in the “Secure Cloud” category in Computerworld’s “Best in Cloud” competition. The jury judges praised the Platform’s cybersecurity features, IaC support for DevOps processes, and 24/7 OChK assistance, along with SOC security monitoring.
