On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will officially end support for Exchange Server 2016 and Exchange Server 2019. After this date, no further technical support or extended security updates will be available for either version.
What does this mean for your organization?
Continuing to use Exchange Server 2019 beyond the support deadline will leave your environment unsupported, exposing your systems to increasing risk. Microsoft will no longer provide security patches or assist with issues—including those related to hybrid configurations.
Key risks
No security updates
Your servers will be increasingly vulnerable to new threats and cyberattacks due to the lack of critical security patches.
No bug fixes
System issues that arise will go unresolved, potentially causing instability or downtime.
No technical support
In case of service disruptions—like mail delivery failures—Microsoft support will no longer be available.
No additional licenses
With end-of-support, purchasing additional licenses for Exchange 2016 or 2019 will no longer be possible.
What are your options?
If you MUST remain on-premise
Upgrade your current setup to Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE)* to ensure continued support and security.
Still, we recommend planning a future migration to the cloud to overcome the long-term limitations of maintaining on-premises infrastructure.
*Organizations with E3/E5 licenses under an Enterprise Agreement can upgrade to Exchange SE without incurring additional costs.
If you’re READY TO MOVE beyond on-premise
Migrate fully to Exchange Online within Microsoft 365 to simplify management, boost availability, and reduce costs.
