OChK is expanding its proprietary, local, and sovereign OChK Platform with a managed Kubernetes service (Kubernetes as a Service, KaaS). OChK clients can now build applications faster, automatically scale resources in response to changing workloads, and ensure high service availability without having to manage Kubernetes environments themselves. The introduction of KaaS on the OChK Platform enables organizations to develop new digital services more efficiently, reduce the risk of downtime, and ease the operational burden on IT teams responsible for infrastructure management.
Addressing the Growing Demands of Modern Applications
An increasing number of organizations are developing applications that require 24/7 availability, rapid response to fluctuating workloads, and frequent feature releases. In such environments, traditional IT infrastructure management is becoming less effective—it relies on manual administration, complicates scalability, and increases the risk of downtime, which can negatively impact both business continuity and operational costs.
Kubernetes as a Service (KaaS) addresses these challenges. Kubernetes has become the industry standard for managing containerized applications, but deploying and maintaining it requires specialized expertise and ongoing administration. KaaS allows organizations to leverage the full potential of Kubernetes without having to manage the platform themselves—the OChK team takes care of its operation and maintenance. The service is complemented by a Load Balancer, which distributes traffic across resources to improve both application performance and availability.
Automation, Scalability, and High Availability
As the industry standard for container orchestration, Kubernetes delivers a wide range of benefits. It automates application operations and dynamically adjusts resource allocation based on current demand. As a result, systems can efficiently handle both everyday traffic and seasonal or unexpected traffic spikes. At the same time, built-in high availability mechanisms reduce the risk of downtime by automatically moving workloads to healthy resources in the event of infrastructure failures, improving operational efficiency while helping to reduce costs.
Deployment automation also enables development teams to release new features and updates more quickly, shortening delivery times and allowing organizations to respond faster to changing business needs. This high level of automation improves overall system reliability, while the consistent way applications are deployed across environments simplifies workload portability and makes it easier to migrate applications between different infrastructure platforms.
Supporting Organizations Building Modern Applications
The availability of managed Kubernetes on the OChK Platform will be particularly valuable for organizations that are rapidly developing applications and need to accelerate time-to-market while ensuring high platform availability, without investing significant time and resources in building in-house Kubernetes administration expertise. The solution is especially well suited for e-commerce platforms experiencing seasonal traffic peaks, companies continuously expanding their digital services, and development teams that want to focus on application innovation rather than infrastructure maintenance.
— We are seeing growing demand from organizations for solutions that enable faster application development while reducing the complexity of infrastructure management. Based on our conversations with customers, IT teams want to focus on building new features and developing products—not on maintaining underlying infrastructure. That is why we are expanding the OChK Platform with Kubernetes as a Service. With KaaS, our customers can take full advantage of automatic scaling, high availability, and flexible resource utilization without having to develop in-house expertise in Kubernetes administration. We manage the platform, allowing IT teams to concentrate on delivering business value and accelerating time-to-market. This is a natural step in the evolution of the OChK Platform and another important addition to our cloud-native services portfolio — says Katarzyna Drabik, Head of Product Development, OChK.
About The OChK Platform
The OChK Platform is a Polish cloud platform built from the ground up and managed by our team of experts. Launched in 2019, it has been developed from the outset to combine security with customer-centric solutions and a local, sovereign infrastructure. Its management framework is based on ISO 27001, 22301, 27017 and 27018 standards, while regular audits confirm the effectiveness of its security controls. To simplify and accelerate infrastructure management, OChK introduced a major Platform update in March 2023 that added Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities, streamlined administration, improved the user experience, and made day-to-day operations faster and more intuitive. In 2024, the OChK Platform received recognition in the "Secure Cloud" category of Computerworld's Best in Cloud awards. The judges highlighted its cybersecurity capabilities, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) functionality supporting DevOps practices, as well as OChK's 24/7 support and Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring services. In the same year, the OChK Platform was expanded with OpenStack, enabling a more flexible and independent approach to the virtualization of cloud resources.
